Xpeng, a leading Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, is set to expand its global market presence despite current tariff challenges. The company introduced the latest version of its X9 multipurpose vehicle, which will be available in the mainland market at a starting price of 359,800 yuan (Rp 821.64 juta (US$49,200) ). The X9, equipped with autonomous driving capabilities powered by Xpeng's AI chip, is aimed at competing with Toyota Motor's Alphard. Xpeng plans to launch the X9 in Europe from July and aims to take orders in the second half of this year. The company delivered 21,141 units of the X9 last year on the mainland, surpassing Toyota's sales of 16,701 Alphards. Xpeng's founder and CEO, He Xiaopeng, expressed confidence that more Chinese EV brands will enter the global market in the future. Xpeng currently has a presence in over 30 countries and regions, with 13 per cent of its sales volume last year coming from overseas markets. Despite the tariff turmoil, He Xiaopeng remains focused on increasing this ratio to 50 per cent from 60 countries and regions over the next decade. The company's ambitious plans reflect its commitment to becoming a significant player in the global EV market.
