NuScale Power has developed the first approved small modular reactor (SMR) in the U.S. with a compact footprint and flexible application. However, NuScale has only generated 56 million dollars in revenue recently against an 11 billion dollar market valuation, mainly from licensing contracts. The company has yet to build or profit from any full power plant with risks posed by regulatory hurdles and cost increases. A previous project in Utah failed due to soaring costs, showing challenges in making nuclear power projects viable. While the global SMR market is expected to grow substantially, most competition and market demand currently come from Asia. Because of its high valuation yet uncertain profit and market realization, buying NuScale stock now may not guarantee life-changing returns. Investors should be cautious and consider more established or promising stocks recommended by analysts.
